The Casanova is in a great location right near the major gay bars and restaurants. Super clean and recently renovated, this small sauna is busiest in the late afternoon and early evening. The average age is just over 30. You’ll usually find a nice crowd and a very friendly staff.

Condal (Espolsasacs 1; +34-93/301-9680; www.grupopases.com/saunacondal.htm, condal@grupopases.com; open Mon-Thu 11 a.m.-5 a.m., weekends 24 hours; EUR 13 or Tues-Thurs 7 a.m.-9 p.m. EUR 10.50)
The Condal is Barcelona’s biggest sauna; hell, it’s almost a complete entertainment system, replete with gym, saunas galore, darkroom, porno cinema, bar, massage, chiropractic services and more. The very hottest guys go here, from early afternoon on, but there isn’t a great deal of attitude. Mondays and Wednesdays are especially busy, since there are admission discounts. Special discounts also apply for members of certain gay activist groups.

Galilea (Calabria 59; +34-93/426-7905;

Galilea is a recent entry, and it has hit the ground running with a yummy young crowd. Cabins, video booths, darkroom and saunas. Internet connections, massages and snacks available. This is the cruisiest of the three saunas in Barcelona, where you’ll meet all types of guys.

Arenas (Calle Tarragone 8 off Plaza España behind the Hotel Plaza; open daily 3.30-11 p.m.)
This pleasant little cinema/bar shows porno movies on a large screen, and also has a darkroom and less dark cruising room. The main screening room has double ‘love’ seats not separated by armrests in the back rows. Very busy on weekend afternoons. (Note that this establishment has moved from a previous location, and is also not to be confused with a gay disco of the same name.)

Sauna Bruch (Calle Bruch 65, Metro Girona or Urquinaona; +34-93/487-4814; open daily 11 a.m.-10 p.m.)
Very large if somewhat shabby and dirty — they give you free sandals to wear on arrival, which should forewarn you!. Two saunas, a steamroom, dark maze, Jacuzzi, gym, TV room, porn lounge and cabins. Especially busy in the early evening, and attracts many older guys, especially weekend afternoons. Definitely a Mecca for the more mature.
