Challenge

Difficulty getting to know candidates pre-hire

Cruz Melendez, Chief HR Officer, and his team were having trouble getting to know candidates pre-hire. It wasn’t until people were on the job that they had a good understanding of new hires’ strengths, weaknesses and workstyles.

Cruz and his team were doing their best to conduct thorough interviews but, ultimately, they decided to add another tool to the hiring process. They were seeking additional data and viewpoints to inform their decision making.


Solution

Introduce HIGHMATCH to the hiring process

Cruz decided to introduce an assessment before the interview. His team chose HighMatch for the accuracy of the reports. Part of the evaluation included asking current staff to take the assessment to judge the quality of insights.

The team was pleased with how accurately the HighMatch report described the current staff members. Since they already knew the staff, they could see how on-point the reports were.

Results

More thorough interviews, better-fit employees

Once they decided on HighMatch, Cruz and his team got to work setting up custom assessments for each position. All new hires, regardless of position or level, take the assessment. The interview guide is used to facilitate all interviews. Cruz appreciates how the interview guide generates different questions for each person and position.

Once candidates are hired, managers refer to the HighMatch reports to get to know the new hire. Beginning a relationship with an understanding of a person’s strengths plus areas where they need support, allows managers to tailor on-boarding and to more easily build rapport. The result has been happier, more productive employees.

HighMatch is now a critical step in their hiring process. Family Resources relies on HighMatch to help them understand candidates’ personalities and problem-solving abilities.
