HighMatch Warehouse Skills Test Library

HighMatch’s Services team made up of industrial & organizational psychologists have identified a number of relevant role-based skill tests for candidates in Warehouse positions on prior experience with clients in the space.

  • Basic Industrial Math: The test is appropriate for individuals that have completed high school (or equivalent) and have at least one year of industrial work experience. It is advised that a calculator be made available. The questions focus on general arithmetic skills as well as math use in industrial setting applications.   • Basic Industrial Skills: This test is composed of questions related to ethics and conduct, English knowledge, safety, and math. This test is geared towards individuals in industrial positions like basic warehousing, assembly line, and food production workers
  • Basic Warehouse Knowledge: This test is designed for general warehouse workers. It covers topics such as the loading and unloading of trucks and railcars, as well as checking and prioritizing incoming and outgoing loads
  • Forklift Operation: This test is appropriate for people who are currently operating forklifts or supervise those who operate forklifts. It tests for knowledge and skills used in the safe operation of forklifts which includes tractors, platform lift trucks, motorized hand trucks as well as other specialized industrial trucks powered by electric motors or internal combustion engines
  • Pick/Pack: This test aims at assessing a person’s ability to read and analyze varying styles of Pick/Pack slips. Topics covered include slip reading and comprehension, inventory calculation, location comparison, and data inference
  • Product Packaging Skills: This test is geared towards general product packagers. This test is not specific to any type of an industry. This test is designed to measure general product packaging skills and includes questions regarding packaging process documents, shipping, cost estimates, and blister packaging and equipment
  • Safety in the Workplace: The test assesses a person’s knowledge of general safety, material handling and storage safety, machine safety, and powered industrial vehicles. This test is appropriate to administer to anyone involved with workplace or warehouse safety with at least a year or more experience
  • Safety Indicator Assessment: This assessment focuses on a person’s likelihood to follow workplace safety procedures and avoid risky behaviors. This assessment can be used across industries
  • Shipping and Receiving Clerk Skills: This test addresses basic attention to detail, math, and general knowledge of real applications experienced in the shipping and receiving environment
  • Warehouse Safety and Inventory Management: This test assesses a person’s understanding of managing a warehouse with an emphasis on safety. Topics include shipping, receiving, forklift handling and safety, physical and logical inventory, safety procedures and signs, and general warehouse management tasks
  • Workplace Health and Safety: This test measures the knowledge of first aid, emergency safety measures, cleanliness and personal hygiene

Certain skills are foundational to specific discipline, in that someone applying for a role needs to have some level of expertise in these skills as a baseline to even be considered qualified as a candidate. In warehouse roles, these foundational skills include:

  • Basic Computer Literacy: This simulation measures knowledge of general computer terminology, processes, and applications and the ability to perform certain operations. This simulation consists of both multiple choice and simulation-based questions, and includes the following topics: Application Software, Computer Terms, Internet and Email, Managing Files, Operating System, and Parts of the Computer
  • Basic Industrial Skills: This test is composed of questions related to ethics and conduct, English knowledge, safety, and math. This test is geared towards individuals in industrial positions like basic warehousing, assembly line, and food production workers
  • Basic Office Skills: This test measures basic math and verbal skills. Topics include Basic Math (adding numbers, subtracting fractions), Business Math (business related word problems), Filing Skills (recognizing alphabetical order), Grammar, and Spelling
  • Basic Statistics: This test measures the knowledge of statistical methods, exploratory analysis, basics of probability, standard distributions and statistical testing.
  • Matching – Alphanumeric: This test assesses a person’s visual accuracy in determining whether a set of letter/numerical combinations, some including symbols, are the same or different
  • Shop Math: This assessment covers such topics as adding numbers, converting decimals to fractions, determining dimensions, converting measurements, and working with fractions. This test is appropriate to administer to working with shop math on a regular basis
  • Microsoft ExcelFast, mobile assessment that tests a candidate’s knowledge of the domains measured by the Microsoft MO-200 Excel 365/2019 Certification
  • Microsoft PowerPoint: Fast, mobile test that tests a candidate’s knowledge of the domains measured by the Microsoft MO-300 Powerpoint 365/2019 Certification
  • Microsoft WordFast, mobile test that tests a candidate’s knowledge of the domains measured by the Microsoft MO-100 Word 365/2019 Certification
