HighMatch Accounting Skills Test Library

HighMatch’s Services team made up of industrial & organizational psychologists have identified a number of relevant role-based skill tests for candidates in Accounting & Finance based on prior experience with clients in the space.

  • Accounting Terminology – Advanced: This test assesses accounting terminology for individuals that are quite familiar with accounting and have worked with client data for at least two years. It is not applicable to individuals who are not familiar with the process of producing a financial statement. The topics covered are financial statement terms, payroll terms, basic accounting terms, and general ledger terms
  • Accounting Terminology – Basic: This test assesses a person’s knowledge of accounting terminology and is for individuals who are familiar with accounting and have worked with client data for at least a year. It is not applicable to individuals who are not familiar with the process of producing a financial statement. The topics covered are financial statement terms, payroll terms, basic accounting terms, and general ledger terms
  • Accounts Payable: This test assesses a person’s knowledge of accounting terminology and is for individuals who are familiar with accounting and have worked with client data for at least a year. It is not applicable to individuals who are not familiar with the process of producing a financial statement. The topics covered are financial statement terms, payroll terms, basic accounting terms, and general ledger terms
  • Accounts Receivable: This test is designed for an Accounts Receivable Clerk Position. Topics include A/R Principles, Credit to Customer, Invoice/Billing Concepts, Journal Entries, Cash Flow, Applying Payments, and Collections
  • Advanced Accounting: This test is designed to screen applicants of approximately three to five years experience in accounting. It covers the areas of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, General Ledger, Financial Analysis, Cost Accounting, and Auditing. The test focuses on skills used by an accountant in the work environment and less on the general ledger equivalent of each entry that one would find in an academic test
  • Bookkeeping: This test assesses a person’s knowledge of day-to-day transactions that a bookkeeper will come across. It covers a range of topics, such as debits and credits, business transactions, and basic accounting knowledge.
  • General Accounting: This assessment is designed to thoroughly test a person’s level of knowledge of Accounting principles, concepts, and terminology. It’s aimed at basic office accounting personnel with 1 to 2 years experience, new accounting graduates, and financial accounting personnel. Topics include basic accounting principles such as debits, credits, adjusting entries to more advanced accounting, such as financial statements, investing, and operating activities
  • General Ledger Knowledge: This test determines the knowledge level of a candidate seeking employment in the field of accounting. The questions on this test range in difficulty from basic, which a candidate with as little as one year’s experience should be able to answer, to questions which are more challenging and will probably only be answered correctly by those candidates with more experience or those who are seeking professional qualifications in accounting. The balance between basic, intermediate and advanced level questions provides an adequate reflection of a person’s knowledge base
  • Payroll: This test, for payroll specialists, is aimed at testing people with one or two years experience in payroll knowledge. The test aims at determining whether a person knows the principles of payroll such as wages calculation, the different pay periods, payroll deductions, including Statutory and Voluntary deductions, different methods of payments, tax depositing and how and when to file the reports including year end reporting

  • Office Math: This test measures a person’s ability to complete basic arithmetic and business word problems. This test is designed for people who need math skills in order to perform a job successfully
  • Microsoft PowerPoint: Fast, mobile test that tests a candidate’s knowledge of the domains measured by the Microsoft MO-300 Powerpoint 365/2019 Certification
  • Microsoft WordFast, mobile test that tests a candidate’s knowledge of the domains measured by the Microsoft MO-100 Word 365/2019 Certification
